Veterinary Exam

Veterinary exams are important checkups for your loyal companion. Your pet ages three times faster than you do within a year, which is why all pets need wellness exams. With each appointment we can track your pet’s development, monitor any existing health issues and adjust their care or lifestyle to keep them healthy and happy. With regular wellness exams we can also diagnose medical conditions earlier and reduce the damage they may cause. If your loyal companion is due for a veterinary exam, please call 519-763-1082 to book an appointment.

How often should my pet have a veterinary exam?

To stay on top of your pet’s health you should ensure they have at least one veterinary exam every year. Your pets goes through many changes within a year and it is important to keep track of their development. In particular if your pet is older (senior) or a puppy or kitten they will need more than one wellness exam annually. Senior pets need two veterinary exams and puppies/kittens need approximately three during their first year of life (at 8, 12 and 16-weeks-old).

What happens during a veterinary exam?

During a veterinary exam we perform a full body checkup to determine your pet’s overall health. The physical exam focuses on their weight, alertness, vision, hearing and skin/fur. Along with this we run diagnostics to get a picture of what’s going on internally. With diagnostics such as ultrasounds and X-rays we can determine the state of their organs and bones. Our veterinarians will ask questions about their nutrition, behaviours, routine and exercise. This discussion keeps pet parents and veterinarians on the same page about their pet’s health and helps determine the type of care and treatment they need.
